Drama is an exciting and experiential subject with numerous co-curricular elements.
It encourages students to be expressive and creative with their ideas as well as improving their communication and confidence. Drama enables students to form and extend their own performance ideas, develop performance skills for the stage and capably respond to amateur and professional Drama. In addition to assessment and class work, the St Laurence’s Drama department seeks to provide students with a variety of co-curricular Drama experiences to enrich and deepen their appreciation for this subject.
The highlight of 2011 was the performance of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor ® Dreamcoat, the well-loved, rollicking musical of epic proportions. A talented cast of more than 160 students from St Laurence’s, Brigidine, Lourdes Hill and Loreto Colleges successfully brought to life this timeless musical. Performing classics like Go, Go, Go Joseph, Pharaoh’s Story and Any Dream Will Do, the production thoroughly entertained the audiences. The performers were joined by a choral group and a 40-piece orchestra resulting in an outstanding production, vibrant with colour and life.
Another successful co-curricular activity is the College's ongoing training and participation in the Youth Theatre Sports competition.
