2012 England and Ireland Music Tour
St Laurence’s Music Department has a history of touring every few years. Our last international tour was in 2008 when we toured 70 musicians to China. We are touring again in June 2012 and will be participating in the World of Music International Music Festival in York and London and then travel to Ireland and visit the region where the Christian Brothers were founded including the Edmund Rice International Heritage Centre. This tour will be open to students in Concert Band 1, Big Band 1, Guitar Orchestra 1, and the Brotherhood choir 2012.
China Tour 2008
In 2008 Concert Band 1, Big Band 1, Guitar Orchestra 1, Senior String Orchestra and Brotherhood choir toured China. The musicians departed Brisbane for a 12-day tour to Hong Kong and Beijing. We were joined by the Chinese language students in Hong Kong after their 5 days in Taiwan. This was an excellent tour with performances and workshops with the Chinese International School in Hong Kong, Miyun No. 2 Middle School and Tian Jin School in Beijing. There was some wonderful sightseeing and cultural experiences with a highlight being a concert and workshop with the Peoples Liberation Army Band at their Barracks in Beijing.
