Congratulations to the First IV Debating team for their outstanding efforts in the Grand-Final of the 2011 Queensland Debating Union competition. With Liam Thomas as first speaker, Cormack Hankinson as second speaker, and Joshua Keenan as third speaker, our Year 12s fought expertly in an intellectual clash of the titans against Brisbane Boys’ Grammar. Supported by the towering presence of Laurie the Lion and the steady hand of Ned Briody our team timekeeper/chairman, the Gentlemen of the Hill proudly represented the College in their final debate in Grammar’s Great Hall, capping off an incredible season where they posed as formidable opponents to win every knock-out round they competed in.

On a personal note, as their coach, I would like to congratulate Liam, Cormack, Joshua and Ned for their outstanding season. Boys, it was a pleasure to watch you develop into young men, skilled in the art of debating. I wish you all the best in your future endeavours. May your passion for excellence and your unique oratorical prowess grant you the ability to make a positively memorable mark in whatever field you choose to pursue.
