SLC students, ranging from Years 9 to 12, were able to acquire a taste of university and professional life, through a wide variety of educational opportunities on offer.

Students visited university campuses throughout the year to familiarize themselves with resources on offer such as library services and campus life in general. Students were also availed opportunities to participate in early start programs with universities such as UQ, QUT, and the South Bank Institute.

In 2011, students interested in law and business were also able to acquire an inside perspective into these professional arenas. In July, Year 10 students participated in a law immersion experience. During this week-long immersion, students visited the TC Bierne School of Law at the University of Queensland, heard from professors and lawyers about the legal arena, watched live court cases at the Supreme Court, and examined the treatment of controversial issues under state and federal law.
