St Laurence’s College is proud to announce the opening of the SLC Centre for Gifted and Talented Education. The Centre, designed and run by Director Katherine Alpert, is a unique space for students participating or seeking to participate in the College’s Gifted and Talented Education Programs. The Centre provides students from Year 5 to 12 with the opportunity to meet with the Director of Gifted Education Katherine Alpert, in a relaxed and comfortable environment, to discuss their interest in educational opportunities on offer, organise their involvement, garner necessary information, and acquire coaching for competitions from Ms Alpert. With its lounge style furniture, stunning views, and ICT facilities, including laptops, desktop computers, Wireless Internet, and the Promethean Interactive Whiteboard, it also grants students a quiet venue for study, reading, relaxation and reflection. Furthermore, in celebration of the International Year of Reading, the College is proud to introduce its “Literature Classics Collection”, consisting of over 230 great works of literature from Homer’s Odyssey to Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World. The Collection is accessible to all students, with individual books available for two week loans.
