Enrolment Procedure

Prospective enrolments can register at any time once a boy has commenced school in PREP.

Enrolment procedures are normally completed two years before a boy’s nominated year of entry. Boys are accepted into the College in Year 5 (Primary School) or Year 7 (Secondary School) with smaller intakes in other years depending on vacancies.

The enrolment process steps are as follows:

Registration can be completed online on the school website or by contacting the Registrar. This information is retained on the College data base and acknowledged by email. The College Prospectus, subject outline and fee schedule is available online. Please note it is your responsibility to keep the College informed of changes of address and contact details. Two years prior to your nominated start year in February the College will forward an enrolment package containing an Application for Enrolment form which should be completed and returned to the College along with copies of Birth Certificate, Baptism Certificate, most recent School Report and Naplan Test.

An administration fee of $120 should accompany the Application for Enrolment form. This fee is not refundable.

Enrolment Interviews
Parents will be advised of online booking instructions via letter and email once applications have been processed.

Year 5 entry – Applicants are interviewed in Term 3 of the year they are in Year 3.
Year 7 entry – Applicants are interviewed in Term 1 of the year they are in Year 5.

Offers of places are made approximately two weeks after interviews

Parents accept the offer and return acceptance form together with the first confirmation fee. (This fee is non refundable and forms part of the $1,000 bond held by the College; however, it will be deducted from your son’s school fees in the first term after commencement at St Laurence’s College).

In Term 1 of the year prior to your son’s year of entry, the second and final confirmation fee will be requested along with an invitation to Orientation day which is held for students and their parents in October. During this day, the students entering Years 5 and 7 will sit for a diagnostic test for the purpose of ascertaining their particular needs and ensuring even mixing of abilities when constructing classes for the following year.

Conditions for Admission

The prospective student and his parents are required to respect the values underlying a Catholic School in the Edmund Rice Tradition.

When accepting a place at the College, the student and his parents become members of the St Laurence’s College community. It is understood that the acceptance of enrolment implies an undertaking on the part of the student, with the support of his parents, to participate fully in all College activities as required.

Please contact College Enrolments Registrar, phone 07 3010 1104 or enrolments@slc.qld.edu.au for more information.

Categories of Enrolment

The Principal of St Laurence’s College determines enrolments for the College.

In admitting students to the College, preference will generally be given to students in the following order:

  • Catholic students from Catholic schools;
  • Siblings of enrolled students or sons of SLC Old Boys;
  • Non Catholic students from Catholic schools or Catholic students from non-Catholic schools.
