Principal's Welcome

On behalf of our school community, I welcome you to the St Laurence’s College website.

A Catholic school for boys in the Archdiocese of Brisbane, we have been operating since 1915. With a total enrolment of over 1,950 boys, and with many international students, we accept students from Year 5 to Year 12, drawing from a wide area of Brisbane.

As a College conducted in the Edmund Rice tradition, we proudly offer a distinctive educational philosophy that is based on a commitment to education as liberation.

This year our theme is Embrace Challenge...Let your light shine. It is my hope that all boys can be appropriately supported and challenged so they can unlock their full potential.

Blessed Edmund Rice, the founder of the Christian Brothers, attempted to change the system to assist those in need, to protect the weak and to work for a just world. His challenge to us today is to act justly and to live in the right relationship with God, ourselves, our neighbour and indeed with all of creation. The College aims to have the values of the Gospel and the message of Jesus pervades in all that happens.

Our staff are enthusiastic, highly dedicated and committed to the spiritual, emotional, physical, intellectual and social needs of our students through lifelong learning. They come with a wide range of experience, skills and expertise and a deep commitment to provide students with quality relationships and positive learning experiences. We look forward to working closely with our students and their parents/caregivers.

Please feel free to explore our website and contact the school for further information, or to join us on a tour of the facilities during our Open Day or on one of our Principal's Tours, so that you can experience our warm and engaging environment first hand.
