Many of our students have found their Heart of Gold in Music and the Arts, discovering their passions across our extensive classroom and co-curricular offerings.
We encourage students of all ability levels to participate in Music, whether it’s through our ensemble program or choosing it as an elective subject from Years 8 to 12. Classroom music is compulsory for Years 5 to 7 to give students an opportunity to try new things and develop their skills.
Life as a Music student is never dull, with boys participating in a range of performances, national and international tours, camps and competitions throughout the year. They also play a big role in the liturgical life of the College, providing the vocals and instrumentals for our various services throughout the year.
St Laurence’s College Old Boys have gone on to perform, record and compose professionally with various national and international artists and ensembles across many styles of music.
The College also runs seasonal Alumni and community ensembles.
Year 5 Music Program
Speech and Drama
The Speech and Drama program is a fun, dynamic extracurricular activity designed to support students from Years 5 to 12 in building confidence, creativity and effective communication skills that extends well beyond the stage. Working across a diverse collection of performance mediums, students develop public speaking, improvisation, acting and presentation skills in a supportive and inclusive environment. The program also provides the opportunity for students to undertake Trinity Guildhall and AMEB Speech and Drama examinations, offering formal recognition of their progress and achievement.
