Affirmation for College Principal Mr Chris Leadbetter
In conjunction with EREA, St Laurence’s College wishes to affirm the appointment of College Principal, Mr Chris Leadbetter to the position of EREA Colleges Regional Director of Education South Australia and Western Australia.
Mr Leadbetter was seconded to the role from late March until the end of 2024, with the full-time appointment effective from 1 July 2024.
While Mr Leadbetter’s departure is a solemn moment for the College, the position poses a fantastic opportunity for Mr Leadbetter to grow as a senior leader within EREA.
EREA Colleges Chief Executive Officer, Mr Chris Woolley, noted this in his recent letter to the community.
‘[The role] enables Chris and his family to experience Catholic Education in new settings and this will build on his outstanding leadership skills. We support Chris’ desire to contribute to the broader EREA community and mission.’
During Mr Leadbetter’s seven-year tenure as Principal, he will be remembered for the transitioning of the Pastoral Care system, the re-visioning of learning in the primary setting and his focus on multiple pathway options for senior students.
Mr Leadbetter shared his sentiments on the community as part of his personally penned letter shared on Tuesday 18 June.
‘My discernment has been very difficult for a variety of reasons. However, my greatest emotion was one of gratitude to you all. From my first day as Principal in 2017 until now, I have always felt welcomed into our unique community. I have fond memories of the students, staff and parents that I have met along the journey. It has been an absolute privilege to work with you all.’
Over the coming months, EREA Colleges will complete the recruitment process for the Principal position, including community consultation with students, parents and staff. As already planned, Mr Ben Lowrie will continue as Principal (Acting) for the remainder of 2024, with Dr Liam Herbert to continue as Deputy Principal (Acting).
