From the Dean of Learning and Teaching
Boys enjoying one of the many music performances throughout LIZID festival.
At Lauries, we believe that every student deserves to find the right mix – the balance between passions, strengths and future possibilities. Just like a DJ blends beats to create the perfect track, students are empowered to fine-tune their learning journey, supported by expert mentoring every step of the way.
As part of this process, we invite students to engage in two pivotal events that will help shape the next track on your son’s academic playlist:
Year 9 Subject Selection Interviews (Virtual – Parent/Teacher/Student)
- Thursday 7 August
- 3.30pm – 6.30pm
- Online via Microsoft Teams – please refer to email correspondence
These three-way interviews provide a valuable opportunity for students, parents, and mentors to come together to explore subject choices for Year 10. Guided by each student’s strengths, interests, and reflections from his Learner Profile, the discussion ensures that decisions are well-informed and purposeful.
Year 10 SET Plan Meetings (In-Person – Teacher/Student)
- Sunday 11 August & Monday 12 August
- ERPAC, Level 5
SET Plan Meetings focus on each student’s transition into the senior phase of learning. These in-person, one-on-one sessions with mentors are designed to support students in developing their Senior Education and Training (SET) Plan — a key document that outlines future goals and the subjects or qualifications that will help achieve them.

At Lauries, mentoring is more than a meeting. It's a partnership grounded in care, insight and genuine belief in each student’s potential. Our staff are deeply committed to ensuring every boy is known, supported and set up for success.
At Lauries, every child can get ahead.
So, whether it’s time to turn up the volume on academics or drop the bass on career goals, remember: you are the DJ. And with the right guidance, every Lauries boy can find his rhythm.
