BOOK SWAP

Mini Vinnies ILF Book Swap

Thank you to the huge number of families and students who have donated to the 2025 ILF Book Swap. Once again, it really has been an overwhelming response and goes to show much our SLC community can rally behind a great cause! Many students and staff were able to purchase beautiful books this week to add to their home collections. There was an incredible amount of excitement on Wednesday as students were able to peruse all of the books. It made teachers happy to see such enjoyment over reading.

Remaining books will be donated to Care Kits for Kids and St Francis’ Table, which are Treacy House and Nagle House’s charity initiatives in 2025. Treacy House will put together kits for kids who have to flee domestic violence situations. Our beautiful books will hopefully help those kids to feel some comfort in difficult circumstances. St Francis’ Table will use them to put in their home packs for people in our local area doing it tough.

All funds raised this week go to the Indigenous Literacy Fund and we believe we have raised just over $872! This is absolutely a record for us in the ten or so years the book swap has been running.

The ILF will use the money to run literacy programs for adults and children in indigenous communities and fund projects for Indigenous authors to produce books in their own language for the youth of their community.

Our boys take home brilliant ‘new’ books in mint condition for enjoyment at their leisure. This Mini Vinnies initiative really is a win-win-win situation for all involved!
