Lamont Brothers Create History at St Laurence's College
In 2025, Callum and Aiden Lamont have become the first brothers to captain the First XI Football side at St Laurence’s College.
Callum captained the side in 2021 to a tightly contested second place while Aiden carries the flame, captaining the squad in 2025.
Callum and Aiden both shared a similar Lauries Journey in terms of their Football – captaining each ‘A’ side since commencing at the College, Callum in Year 7 (2016) and Aiden in Year 5 (2017).
Callum explained that the Lauries Football program, with the addition of the Manchester City partnership, continues to improve players’ skill and development.
“The Football program at St Laurence’s College is about more than just playing Football, it seeks to make players at the school better people, while also giving them the knowledge and support to become better footballers,” Callum said.
“A sense of pride grows within each boy who comes through the program - watching the First XI play from when you first come to the College, to eventually putting on the long-sleeve, striped jersey with people you’ve spent the last five to seven years with at the College is a feeling like no other.”
"Watching Aiden play and become captain of the team after some injuries that affected his 2024 season, fills me with an immense sense of pride - it is a rare experience for two brothers to have,” Callum said.

After overcoming a serious injury at the start of the season, Aiden has shown great determination and relentless effort to make an incredible comeback to lead the First XI in 2025.
"Lauries has allowed me to develop both on and off the field," Aiden said.
Aiden believes that the lessons learnt from his brother as well as the 'modern and beautiful style of Football' developed from the Manchester City partnership has provided him with a platform.
"As I have grown up watching my brother play for the First XI, I learnt from his constant desire and grit that he showed on the field. Watching him has taught me as a First team player, you are playing for every single player that has and wants to wear the black and gold jersey.
"It is an honour and privilege to be the captain of the First XI and for our family to achieve this is not a testament to our family’s skills, but rather a testament to the need to be a part of and perform for Lauries Football,” Aiden said.
Callum and Aiden have been incredibly well supported by their passionate parents, Sheree and Heath, who speak proudly about their time at Lauries.
“Our family has been a part of the Lauries community for over 10 years,” Sheree and Heath said.
“As a family, we have watched as St Laurence's College Football program flourish with trips to the UK, the addition of the Manchester City Football Program and inclusion in the ISSA Cup, EREA Football Competition and the UHLSport Cup.”
Sheree and Heath have praised the professionalism of the Football program at the College, explaining that the addition of the Performance squad, the new gym and the amazing work of Athletic Development staff has led to the production of some excellent footballers.
“Both boys have loved every minute of it, playing with the pride that only a Lauries Gentlemen carries with them in everything they do.
“Lauries provides a wonderful platform for boys to grow and develop both academically and through extracurricular programs such as AIC sport,” Sheree and Heath said.
Callum and Aiden have both had great mentors during their time at the College, including Mr David Knight (First XI coach and Dean of Students), Mr Lachlan Heshusius (First XI Manager and Dean of Identity and Community) and Mr Richard King (Former First XI Manager and current Head of House – Duhig).
“Richard King, who was the First XI manager during my time in the squad, provided an immense amount of support and guidance to myself. He was and continues to be a great mentor of mine. This flows onto Aiden as the Duhig House Captain,” Callum said.
“David Knight and Lachlan Heshusius also create an environment for success for all students and players, giving as many opportunities as possible.”
Mr Knight speaks highly of both boys, praising their dedication and commitment to the College and its Football program.
“It's truly a remarkable and rare achievement (in fact I am not sure if it has happened before) to have two brothers, Callum (2021) and Aiden Lamont (2025), captaining the First XI football team during their final year at the College. Their journey is a testament to their dedication, hard work, passion for football and their leadership,” Mr Knight said.
“As their coach, I have witnessed firsthand the growth and development of both Callum and Aiden - their style of play is dynamic and exciting, both demonstrate a great first touch and the ability to play a splitting pass in attack,”
“I am very proud of Callum and Aiden for achieving this milestone together, they are both wonderful young men,” Mr Knight said.
Thanks to the lessons learnt at the College and from Football, Callum has been able to succeed in life after Lauries, starting his own business which helps people achieve their dreams every day.
