Lauries Sports Lunch 2024

Sport Community
27 March 2024

Due to the success of this event last year and the ongoing support from our sporting community, the College is proud to once again offer the Lauries Sports Lunch in 2024.

Come together, share a meal and listen to our amazing guest speakers - what better way to unite our passionate sporting community and celebrate our flourishing sporting pathways?

The Lauries Sports Lunch, held on Friday 31 May at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre Plaza Terrace, will be the major sport fundraising event for the year so we invite our parents, Old Boys and members of our extended community to show their support and help raise valuable funds for Lauries Sport.

In 2024, we are excited to announce our amazing panel:

David Campese

David 'Campo' Campese is etched into the fabric of international Rugby history and is widely regarded as one of the greatest Rugby Union players of all time! Whether it be his 15-year Wallabies career, his three Rugby World Cups in 1997, 1991 and 1995, his induction into the IRB Hall of Fame or his creation of the infamous 'goosestep', there are plenty of things to discuss with Campo and we can't wait to hear from him at the Lauries Sports Lunch!

Aron Baynes

With 574 NBA appearances under his belt, Brisbane Bullets’ Aron Baynes is one of Australia's all-time most decorated Basketball players on the world stage with Boomer appearances at the Olympics (2012, 2016, 2021) and Basketball World Cups (2010, 2014, 2019). Aron's NBA career started in 2013 at the San Antonio Spurs where he went on to win a championship in 2014. Aron then had two seasons at the Detroit Pistons, two at the Boston Celtics, his career-best season in 2019/20 at the Phoenix Suns and a final season in 2020/21 at the Toronto Raptors.

Gretel Bueta

Gretel Bueta has stamped her authority in Australian Netball as one of the great innovators and performers, highlighted by her trademark lay-up shot and her 47 caps for the Diamonds. The Firebirds and Diamonds superstar had a scintillating career showcased by her incredible 2022 season: MVP for the Australian Diamonds at the Commonwealth Games 2022 Netball Queensland Laura Geitz Medal 2022 Quad Series Player of the Match and Series Goal Attack in the Nissan Net Points 2022 Team.

Ryan Jackson

Ryan Jackson is a Lauries Old Boy (2021) and current NRL player for the Dolphins. Hear about Ryan's Lauries Journey including his First XV Premierships in 2020 and 2021, his First XIII pathway and his road to the NRL.

Terry Reader

Plus a one-on-one with current Dolphins CEO and Lauries Old Boy (1996) Terry Reader! Terry established his own consultancy business in 2020 where he was engaged to lead the bid for the Dolphins’ successful campaign to become the 17th NRL team. Terry was then appointed the inaugural CEO of the Dolphins after winning the bid and under his leadership and strategic direction, the Dolphins defied the critics to be a huge success both on and off the field - achieving attendance, sponsorship, membership and merchandise results that saw the Dolphins finish in the top two NRL clubs in nearly all key commercial areas in their first season. Hear about Terry and the Dolphins' story as he sits down one-on-one with MC Mitch Lewis at the Lauries Sports Lunch on Friday 31 May at the BCEC Plaza Terrace.
