Luca Ellero Honoured at 2025 Order of Australia Association Citizenship Awards

The 26th annual Order of Australia Association Secondary Schools Citizenship Awards took place on Friday September 19 2025, at the Undumbi Room in Parliament House. The ceremony, attended by Her Excellency the Honourable Dr Jeannette Young AC PSM, Governor of Queensland, celebrated the outstanding service and leadership of Queensland’s secondary school students.

Among the distinguished recipients was 2025 College Captain, Luca Ellero, who was awarded a Certificate of Community Service in recognition of his exceptional dedication to both his school and the wider community. Luca’s commitment to service has set a high standard for his peers with

“Luca’s commitment to service and leadership truly embodies the values we strive to instill at St Laurence’s College,” Mr Lowrie said. 

“His recognition by the Order of Australia Association is a testament to his character and the positive impact he has made within our community.

We are incredibly proud of Luca and look forward to seeing the continued difference he will make in the world for the remainder of the year and beyond his name at Lauries.”

The Order of Australia Association Secondary Schools Citizenship Awards were established in 1999 by the Queensland Branch to foster pride in Australian citizenship and to honour students who have made significant contributions to their communities. Over the past 26 years, 317 students from 137 schools have been recognised, with this year’s event receiving one hundred nominations from sixty-six secondary schools across the state.
