College News
18 June 2025

St Laurence’s College is proud to announce a major upgrade of its Runcorn Sports Precinct, with a series of updates scheduled to take place in the back half of 2025.

With weather damage and increased usage in recent years, College Principal Mr Ben Lowrie is excited about the staged upgrade of facilities scheduled to take place.

“The College Leadership Team and I feel that the time is right to continue to enhance the playing facilities for our students,” College Principal Mr Lowrie said.

“Our vision will enable the College to utilise Runcorn for more playing and training facilities across the course of the year.

The initial priority will be upgrading Fields 1, 2 and 3 with enhanced playing surfaces for all sports, including the Cricket wickets, Rugby #1 Oval and a new Football pitch as well as added facilities that will aid our development in sport and increase activity for our students and the community,” Mr Lowrie said.

The key features of the Runcorn Development include:

  • Enhanced playing surfaces for Fields 1, 2 and 3 including new Cricket wickets, a new #1 Rugby oval and a new Football precinct
  • Bespoke Scoreboard: A modern scoreboard will be installed to improve visibility and engagement for spectators, enhance the atmosphere of game days plus service multiple sports
  • White Picket Fence: A classic white picket fence will be added around the main oval
  • Enhanced Training Facilities: New facilities will be introduced to support a wide range of disciplines including Cricket nets plus track and field provisions, ensuring students have access to the resources they need to train and compete at their best.

The reinstallation of the white picket fence will provide the opportunity for the community to sponsor individual and/or groups of pickets. Further information will be shared in the coming months.
