Solidarity Mass and Walkathon 2024
On Friday 9 August, the annual Solidarity Mass and Walkathon took place and the College is proud to announce that over $121,633.14 was raised! These valuable funds go towards major charities; Ronald McDonald House, St Vincent’s Foundation Queensland and MND and Me as well as our ten House charities (42 for 42, St Brendan’s Catholic Primary School, Eat Up, Rosies Friends on the Street, Romero Centre, Emmanuel City Mission, Care Kits for Kids and Queensland Children’s Hospital School).
We thank Old Boy Fr Gerry Kalinowski and Fr William Aupito Iuliano for presiding over a beautiful Solidarity Mass on the morning. The Mass gave the College a chance to reflect on the why behind Walkathon.
Despite the impending weather being questionable at the start of the day, the day turned out to be fantastic.
We congratulate all the boys on their efforts and thank all members of the Lauries community for their assistance in raising money for charity and helping those in need. In particular, we must congratulate Lachlan Murphy, Joseph Fakhry and Ransom Reeves for raising the most money in the College.
It would be remiss to not mention our very generous sponsors for their support of Walkathon in 2024; 1300 Medics, 88 Electrical Pty Ltd, Dynasty Sport, Cleanstate Commercial Cleaning, Computer Alliance, Garth Brokensha Plumbing Pty Ltd, Network Solutions (Aust) Pty Ltd and St Laurence’s College Old Boys’ Association.
