Walkathon 2026 - The Road we Share
On Friday 7 August, students undertook the challenging 14-kilometre journey through the Brisbane CBD in support of the College's major and House charities. Since its inception in 1968, Walkathon has become a defining feature of the Lauries experience, raising more than $1 million for charitable causes and instilling a lifelong commitment to service in generations of students.
Prior to stepping out on the walk, the College community gathered for the annual Solidarity Mass, presided over by Fr William Aupito Iuliano. The Mass provided an important opportunity for students and staff to reflect on the purpose behind Walkathon and the impact their efforts would have on those less fortunate.
The 2026 theme, "The Road We Share", encouraged students to consider their connection to the broader community and their responsibility to walk alongside those in need. Through every step taken and every dollar raised, students demonstrated the Lauries values of compassion, service and commitment to others.
This year, fundraising efforts supported Ronald McDonald House South East Queensland, the MND and Me Foundation, as well as the College's Faith in Action and House charities. These organisations provide vital assistance to individuals and families facing significant challenges, and students embraced the opportunity to contribute to causes that have a meaningful impact within the wider community.
The 2026 Walkathon achieved an outstanding fundraising result, with students raising more than $120,000 through the support of the wider community. This remarkable achievement is a testament to the generosity of our families, supporters and donors, as well as the dedication of our students.
The College sincerely thanks all students, donors, sponsors, families, staff and volunteers who contributed to this year's event. Their collective efforts have ensured Walkathon remains one of the most significant and impactful traditions in the history of St Laurence's College, continuing to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others while reminding us of the importance of the Road we Share.
