From the Pastoral Office
On Wednesday we were blessed with an exceptionally moving Anzac Ceremony thanks to Mr Paul Corfield and numerous staff. Captain Michael Lorrigan who served in Afghanistan was the guest speaker and his inspiring message was all about purpose and service. We left feeling even more admiration for all of those who have served, are currently serving or gave the ultimate sacrifice. Thanks to all involved.
Year 9
Year 9 Mother Son Evening
The invitation went out last week welcoming mothers or a significant female role model in the lives of our Year 9 students to attend our Mother Son event on Friday 10 May with their boy. Please find the further details attached HERE.
‘Smashed’ – Drug and Alcohol Presentation
Last Friday our Year 9 cohort participated in an interactive performance which focused on the dangers of various risk-taking behaviours and challenges that students at this age may be facing. The legal and moral implications of experimenting with drugs and alcohol were examined with students being enlightened about the fines and charges that can ensue. Consent, social media and peer pressure were other topics explored during the presentation.
AIC Sport - Round One
As we commence Round One of Term 2 sport, we would like to extend our heartfelt wishes to all students that are involved over the weekend. Students are reminded to compete fairly whilst always showing respect to fellow students and officials. As representatives of St Laurence’s College, it is important to show up to fixtures on-time, prepared and wearing appropriate attire. Any students staying to support teams throughout the day will need to be in full college uniform. As always, we warmly welcome all students and parents from other schools and look forward to an exciting Round One fixture.
Parent Teacher Interviews
This Wednesday we have our parent teacher interviews that will be conducted virtually from 3.30pm-6.30pm. Students are reminded that this is a normal school day and there will be no early finish on Wednesday 1 May. Parent Teacher interviews are an important part of the open communication channels between school and home and students are encouraged to be present with their parents so feedback can be applied and put into practice for Term 2.
