Year 12, 50 Days

This morning our Year 12 cohort celebrated the final 50 days which remain of their senior school journey. The morning began with Mass to mark this milestone with Father William giving a beautiful and poignant homily to Seniors about remember three ‘P’s, which were ‘Perseverance’, ‘Perspective’ and ‘Prayer’. I would like to add one more, being ‘Possibility’.  We want our Seniors to embrace the many possibilities, potential paths and opportunities that lie ahead in their lives and journeys. This was followed by a photo and cake. Look out for the posts on social media for some pictures of how our Year 12 students celebrated this achievement.

House Choir

Today, the College participated in our inaugural House Choir. The songs performed fell under the theme of ‘Eras’.

Congratulations must go to Callan House for their win today. I would like to congratulate all boys who attended and participated today.

It was such a wonderful occasion for our young men as they each developed a sense of House and school spirit, it is these connections which makes Lauries special. We are hoping that this will carry over to our co-curricular activities with Chess, 1st XV rugby and 1st XI soccer this weekend at Home against Padua College.

A special thank you must go to the Heads of House, House Mentors, the audio-visual team and our wonderful music department for their commitment and effort in ensuring a successful event.

June Jam

This week the June Jam three on three basketball competition saw teams compete to represent their chosen country.  It was a wonderful event that was organised by the Solidarity and Culture captains in the spirit of our multicultural and inclusive community. The competition was spirited with competitors representing their countries with passion and pride.  Congratulations to team Polynesia in the Senior School competition and team Lebanon in the Middle School.

Year 10 exam block

Next week Year 10 students will have their first weeklong exam block beginning Monday.

Some requirements for next week.

  • Students must arrive and depart the College in full school winter uniform, including tie and blazer.
  • If students are coming to school to study (or remaining for a longer duration after your exam) then they must sign in and out at the Pastoral Precinct, if they are arriving just for their exam and departing directly after, it is not required.
  • If students would like to study at school, they must first sign in at the Pastoral Precinct then study in the library.
  • Students are asked to be mindful of noise levels when travelling through the College grounds, as classes will be occurring.
  • They should arrive on time for exams, with all of the correct equipment.
  • Normal College expectations apply regarding:
    • Being clean shaven
    • Uniform and hair
    • Respecting teachers and students
    • Travelling to and from school

The Pastoral team wishes our Year 10s the very best for their exams.

Best wishes for the coming week.
