From the Pastoral Office
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
The Pastoral Team warmly welcome both new and existing parents and students back to our community for what promises to be another exciting Term. I would like to start by thanking all students, staff and parents who participated in events over the busy holiday period.
110 Year College Photo and Home Class Photos
This year marks an extraordinary milestone as St Laurence’s College celebrates 110 years of excellence in education and community spirit. To commemorate this significant occasion, we will be conducting a whole school photo on the 6th and 7th of May. This event will be followed by Home Class and individual photos on the 8th and 9th of May. We are excited to capture this historic moment and create a lasting memory for all students and staff.
A reminder that students must be neatly dressed with correct hair and appropriate grooming (further information on College expectations for uniform and hair can be found in the recent letter for all parents and caregivers at the end of Term 1 or in the College student diary).
Students who do not meet College standards may miss out on this opportunity.
Year 9 Mother and Son event
We are delighted to invite Year 9 students and their mothers to a special Mother and Son event on the 9th of May. This cherished occasion offers an opportunity for mothers and sons to bond and create lasting memories through engaging activities and meaningful conversations. Detailed information about this event has been sent to Year 9 parents. We look forward to seeing you there
Student Surveys
Next week our students will complete a student satisfaction survey. The results of these surveys can be cross referenced with other EREA Colleges from across the state and nation to determine our strengths and areas for college improvement.
Anzac Day
Today, we held a touching Anzac Day ceremony that honoured the bravery and sacrifice of our service men and women. The students, staff, and special guests in attendance were moved by the heartfelt speeches and solemn reflections. We extend our gratitude to all who participated and helped make this ceremony memorable. As we continue to pay our respects, we invite everyone to join us at Ekibin Memorial Park tomorrow, 25 April, at 6.30am for another Anzac Day ceremony. Your presence will contribute to a dignified and united commemoration of our national heroes.
Term 2 Sport – Chess, Football and Rugby
The pastoral team would like to wish all participants the very best in the trial round against Iona on the weekend. Messages to the students this week has been about their presentation before and after games (full college winter uniform if staying to watch other games), winning well and losing graciously.
Live Jesus in our Hearts… Forever.
