Current Edition | Term 2, Week 1

The Primary school are once again conducting our annual Book Swap where all proceeds go towards the Indigenous Literacy Foundation. We are asking the SLC community to dust off your bookshelves and see if you have any novels and books that would suit ages 9-13. If you are happy to donate them to this excellent cause, we would love to accept them in the Primary office or the 6MR classroom. Later in the term, Years 5-7 students will be given the opportunity to come and buy a book for a $1 and all money raised will be sent to the ILF. This is a cause we have been working with now for over 10 years and collectively have raised over $8000. 

The ILF works to improve literacy rates for our Indigenous communities across Australia. English reading and writing classes educate many people who need the additional help. They also publish Indigenous authors’ works with both English and the local language, providing a way to combine cultures. If you have novels or non-fiction books like Guiness World Records, for example, we would love to take them off your hands!
