Around the Grounds – Sport Wrap Up

It’s been a huge fortnight of AIC Sport for the Lauries community!

Round 5 saw us celebrate Back to Runcorn Day as Lauries took on Marist College. It was a massive day of sport, with almost every team playing at Runcorn. The atmosphere was electric, and it was fantastic to welcome so many Old Boys back to the fields to cheer on the Black and Gold.

Round 6 had Lauries heading to Padua in what was another action-packed weekend. A highlight of the round was our First XV proudly wearing the Indigenous Heritage Jerseys, marking a special moment in our sporting calendar.

On the scoreboard, Lauries teams continue to impress across the board. Numerous Football, Rugby, and Chess teams are in the hunt for AIC Premierships heading into the final two weeks of Term 2 sport. We wish all teams the best of luck as they battle it out to finish strong!

AIC Cross Country Championships

On Wednesday, St Patrick’s College hosted the AIC Cross Country Championships at Curlew Park, Sandgate. The event saw a strong turnout from Lauries, with many students and staff attending and supporting our runners throughout the day.

In the Primary division, Lauries finished 5th overall, just 2 points shy of 3rd, highlighting how close the competition was.

In the Secondary division, Lauries placed 6th, with a standout performance from our U13 age group, who finished 3rd overall. Special congratulations go to Lachlan Gordon, who won the U13 race, and Ethan Trieu, who claimed an impressive 3rd place finish. Well done to all our runners for their fantastic efforts and school spirit.
