Sports Wrap Up – Term 3 Recap

In the final round of Term 3 AIC Fixtures, St Laurence’s College competed against St Peters and ATC, rounding out another exciting season of sport.
Our Rugby League teams had a strong finish to the season, with most sides enjoying success. A special congratulations to our 8A team, who went through the season undefeated – a fantastic achievement!

It was a tense and competitive morning of Tennis, with many close results across the board. The Opens fixtures were especially hard fought, with both the 1st IV and 2nd IV matches coming down to the wire. While most teams suffered narrow losses, our 2nd IV did enough to secure the Premiership – an outstanding accomplishment for the season.

The College also enjoyed success on the Basketball courts, winning the majority of fixtures. Congratulations to our 2nd V, 7A, 7B, and 7C teams, who all claimed Premierships. Our 1st V closed out the season in style with a commanding win, a great way to finish off their AIC campaign. This weekend, the same group will head to the Gold Coast to compete in the CBSQ Tournament, and we wish them every success.

Track and Field Update – Holiday Training and Team Selections

Thank you to all the students who have participated in the past four AIC Warm-Up Events. It has been fantastic to see such strong attendance and to watch all the Lauries boys in action.

Over the upcoming holiday period, Track and Field training will continue as follows:

  • Week 1: Training on Thursday
  • Week 2: Training on Tuesday followed by the Final Warm-Up Meet on Thursday

We strongly encourage all athletes to attend these sessions to ensure the best preparation leading into team selections and the AIC Championships.

We look forward to seeing as many athletes as possible at training. If you have any further questions, please contact the Sports Office

Futsal – State Champions!

Futsal is now in its third year at St Laurence’s College, and in that short time the program has already established a proud tradition of success.

This year, Lauries entered the Football Queensland Futsal State Championships and achieved outstanding results, claiming victory in both the U13 and U15 divisions to be crowned State Champions. A big thank you goes to Mr Jamie Davies and Mr Mathew Zannes for their dedication in coaching and guiding these teams. Winning the State Championships also qualifies our boys for the National Titles, which will be held in November.

This is a remarkable achievement and reflects the talent, dedication and teamwork of our players, as well as the commitment of the coaching staff.

Thank You!
A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to sport throughout Term 3. It was a busy term, and we truly value the commitment of our staff, students and parents—sport at Lauries would not be possible without you.

We wish you all a safe and enjoyable holiday and look forward to seeing the boys return refreshed and ready for Term 4.
