Sports Day

Last Wednesday, the College held its annual Sports Day at Runcorn. This year was slightly different to previous editions, with Field 7 taking centre stage as the hub of the event. The day was a tremendous success, with Lauries students enthusiastically participating in all activities and creating a fantastic sense of community throughout.

A special thank you goes to all staff whose hard work and organisation ensured the day ran smoothly and was enjoyed by all.

One of the highlights was the final race of the day — the Anthony Lesczenski Memorial 100m — where an incredible 0.38 seconds separated the first six runners. Harry Taylor claimed victory in what was a thrilling finish. Congratulations also to Archie Simmons for winning the All-Age Handicap Mile and to Hogan House, who were crowned the overall champions of the Sports Day Carnival.

Track and Field

A reminder to all students and families that the AIC Track and Field Warm-Up Meets commence next Thursday and will continue weekly until the end of Term. We encourage all students to get involved — Track and Field is a fantastic opportunity to improve fitness, strength, and overall athletic ability, which benefits all other sports.

Manchester City Football School at St Laurence’s

On EKKA Wednesday, Gair Field hosted the Manchester City Football School trials for the 2027 Year 5 intake. The trials were extremely well attended, with close to 100 students showcasing their talent. Our coaches were highly impressed with the standard of football on display.

We are excited about the next generation of SLC footballers, with the future looking very bright. A big thank you to Jamie Davies, our Man City SLC Head Coach, and his team for their hard work and preparation in making these trials such a success.

AIC Round 4

This weekend, our AIC teams return to action, with Marist College Ashgrove hosting all Senior Basketball, Tennis and Rugby League fixtures. After a well-earned break last week, our students are ready to go. Best of luck to all teams competing!
