Primary All Schools Touch Football
Last weekend, our Primary Touch Football teams represented the College with great spirit and determination at the Primary All Schools Touch Football competition held at the Cleveland Showgrounds. The College entered two teams, both of which performed strongly across the three days of competition.
A particular highlight was the outstanding performance of the Lauries Black team, who progressed all the way to Round 16. Congratulations to all players on their effort, teamwork and sportsmanship throughout the event.
A special thank you goes to Mr Brendan Ward for his tireless work in coaching and coordinating our Touch Football program this season. His dedication and leadership have been instrumental in the continued growth of Primary Touch Football at the College.
Sports Update: A Busy Two Weeks of Trials and Competitions
The next fortnight will be a busy one for Lauries Sport as preparations begin for the 2026 season. Students will participate in trial matches against AIC schools including St Edmund’s College and Villanova College for Volleyball and again against Villanova in AFL.
Students who still wish to be considered for selection in AFL, Cricket or Volleyball are encouraged to contact the relevant Director of Sport as soon as possible to express their interest.
Manchester City Lauries Cup
This weekend, the College will host its third annual Manchester City Lauries Cup on Gair Field. This event has become a much-loved tradition, providing an opportunity for our Football players to celebrate the season with an exciting internal round-robin competition. The tournament always showcases fast, skilful Football, and this year promises to be no different. We look forward to seeing the Lauries spirit on full display as our players take to the field.
A sincere thank you to our Manchester City coaches — Mr Jamie Davies (Head Coach), Mr Colm Rafferty (Assistant Head Coach), Mr Miguel Nydam and Mr Joe Oberholzer (Support Coaches) — for their ongoing commitment to developing our players. We also acknowledge the support of our Sports Department staff for their organisation and efforts in preparing this event.
