Lauries Sports Update

The holiday period was an exceptionally busy and exciting time for Lauries Sport, with our teams involved in a wide range of tours, tournaments, training camps, and trials. These opportunities ensured our students remained active, engaged, and well-prepared heading into the 2026 sporting season.

A sincere thank you to the many staff members who generously gave up time during the six-week break to support and care for our students. Your dedication does not go unnoticed and is greatly appreciated. It was also fantastic to see so many students making regular use of the St Laurence’s Gym over the holidays, demonstrating a strong commitment to their physical preparation and performance.

UK Football Tour

During the holidays, a group of Lauries football students embarked on an unforgettable UK Football Tour. The tour included visits to Manchester City and other English football clubs, providing students with invaluable exposure to elite environments. Highlights included attending a match at the Etihad Stadium, creating a truly immersive and memorable football experience. A huge thank you to Mr Knight, Mr Davies, and all staff involved for their outstanding leadership and support throughout the tour.

Swimming Training Camp – Currimundi

Our Swim Team spent three intensive and highly productive days at a training camp in Currimundi. The camp focused on skill development, conditioning, and team bonding. A special thank you to our Director of Swimming, Ms Meg Jacobs, for her leadership and outstanding organisation in delivering a successful camp.

Cricket Trials and Tournaments

Cricket was in full swing over the break, with trial matches, two AIC T20 tournaments, and the Australian Schools Challenge Cup taking place. These experiences provided valuable match play and preparation for the season ahead. Thank you to our First XI Coach, Mr Cameron Wigan, and Director of Cricket, Mr Sam Wiltshire, for their tireless work and commitment to the program.

AFL Training and Trials

Our AFL teams remained active throughout the holidays, participating in training sessions and trials. A big thank you to our Director of AFL, Mr Josh Ferguson, for his dedication and efforts in ensuring these sessions ran smoothly.

Volleyball Training and Trials

Volleyball training and trials were also conducted over the break, with strong participation across age groups. Thank you to our Director of Volleyball, Mr Anthony Bird, for his commitment and leadership in preparing our teams for the season ahead.

AIC Trials Commence This Weekend

This weekend marks the official commencement of AIC Trials, with Lauries set to face Padua College. Senior teams will compete at home venues, while junior teams will play away. We wish all teams the very best as they begin their 2026 AIC campaign.

With such a strong start to the year, 2026 is shaping up to be another outstanding year for sport at St Laurence’s College.
