Mothers Camp 2026 | Reflection
SLC Mothers Camp 2026 — A Moment to Recharge
More than 100 mothers from across all year levels gathered at Camp Laurence last weekend for the annual Mothers Camp—now in its 36th year. Organised entirely by mothers, for mothers, this long-standing tradition continues to bring the Lauries community together through connection, shared experience and a strong spirit of volunteerism.
The weekend was blessed with beautiful weather and a programme that balanced time to reflect, recharge, reconnect and relax. Opportunities to get moving included the gorge walk (yes—the same one the boys do) and a lakeside Pilates session—though, mercifully, no high ropes. More than anything, it was a chance to slow down and enjoy the company of others navigating a similar stages of life.
The highlight, as always, was the closing liturgy for our Grade 12 mothers—a moment for the community to pause and acknowledge the milestone of completing the Laurie’s journey alongside their sons. It is a simple yet moving tradition, and one that captures the heart of the weekend: shared experience, quiet reflection and a strong sense of belonging.
A sincere thank you to the volunteer committee, whose care and commitment ensure this long-standing tradition not only continues, but thrives year after year.
