From the Pastoral Office
The Pastoral Team warmly welcome both new and existing parents and students back to our community for what promises to be another exciting term. I would like to start by thanking all students, staff and parents who participated in events over the busy holiday period.
Year 12 Formal
Before moving to events this term, I would like to acknowledge our Senior Formal which occurred at the end of last term. It was wonderful to see our young men looking so dapper and enjoying a delightful evening with their mates, partners and lighting up the dancefloor. Thanks to Mr Pike, Mr Knight and our Engagement & Wellbeing Prefects for all of their organisation and contributions to a memorable night.
Year 9 Mother and Son Event
We are delighted to invite Year 9 students and their mothers to a special Mother and Son event on Friday 8 May. This cherished occasion offers an opportunity for mothers and sons to bond and create lasting memories through engaging activities and meaningful conversations. Detailed information about this event has been sent to Year 9 parents and please remember that the RSVP is Friday 1 May. We look forward to seeing you there.
CyberSafety Solutions Presentations
Yesterday we were once again fortunate to host one of the penultimate experts in cyber safety to work will all year levels during the day and parents last night at our first Parent M2L of the year. Susan’s no-nonsense approach and depth of wisdom engaged all audiences and filled them with important knowledge as the world of online safety becomes even more complex. Our mission and Susan’s is to arm students and parents with information and awareness in order to keep our boys safe and make legal, responsible choices online.
At the end of the evening parents had the opportunity to purchase Susan’s latest book, ‘Growing Up Digital’ but for those unable to attend, she shared a couple of great resources available here. (Emojis and Parent Portals).
Anzac Day
Today, we held a touching Anzac Day ceremony that honoured the bravery and sacrifice of our service men and women. The students, staff and special guests in attendance were moved by the heartfelt speeches and solemn reflections. We extend our gratitude to all who participated and helped make this ceremony memorable. As we continue to pay our respects, we invite everyone to join us at Ekibin Memorial Park tomorrow, Saturday 25 April, at 6.30am for another Anzac Day ceremony. Your presence will contribute to a dignified and united commemoration of our national heroes.
Term 2 Sport – Chess, Football and Rugby
The pastoral team would like to wish all participants the very best in the trial round against Iona College on the weekend. Messages to the students this week has been about their presentation before and after games (full College winter uniform if staying to watch other games), winning well and losing graciously.
Best wishes for the week ahead.
