Weeks 2 and 3 of AIC Sport
The past fortnight has been full of excitement and competition as our Lauries teams took to the fields, courts and classrooms for Rounds 2 and 3 of the AIC competition.
In Round 2, Lauries hosted St Patrick’s College as we officially reopened the Crawford and Lehman ovals. It was a fantastic occasion for the College community, and we are pleased to say the results matched the occasion. Across all year levels, Lauries claimed the majority of Aggregate victories, highlighted by outstanding performances from both our 1st XI Football and 1st XV Rugby Union teams.
Round 3 saw Lauries travel to Tivoli to face St Edmund’s College. Once again, it proved to be a successful day for the College, with strong performances across all three major sports resulting in numerous aggregate victories. Our 1st XV Rugby Union and 1st Chess teams both recorded impressive wins, while the 1st XI Football team was forced to settle for a draw despite producing some excellent football throughout the match.
Looking Ahead to Rounds 4 and 5
This Saturday marks one of the biggest events on the Lauries sporting calendar as the College travels to Ashgrove to take on our traditional rivals during their Old Boys Round. With pride, passion and tradition on the line, it promises to be a memorable day of school spirit and fierce competition. We encourage the entire Lauries community to come along, wear black and gold and get behind our teams.
Due to representative commitments in both Football and Rugby Union, several fixtures have been adjusted during the coming week. Lauries will take on Marist in the 1st XI Football clash on Wednesday 27 May, while later that afternoon our 1st XV Rugby Union side will face Padua College at Souths Rugby Club. On the same day, our Cross Country athletes will travel to Shorncliffe for the final AIC Warm Up Meet ahead of the Championship season.
In Round 5, Lauries returns to Runcorn to host Padua College. The 1st XI Football match will headline the day, kicking off at 1.15pm, and we encourage all members of the Lauries community to come out and support our boys.
