String Recitals
Our string students presented their Semester 1 Recitals across two evenings on Monday 1 June and Wednesday 3 June. Across both performances, approximately 57 students took to the stage, showcasing the results of their dedication, persistence and regular practice.
From beginner students taking their first steps in a performance setting to more experienced musicians demonstrating refined technique and musical expression, each performance reflected the hard work and progress made throughout the semester. The recitals provided a supportive and encouraging environment, allowing students to build confidence while sharing their achievements with family, friends and staff.
Thank you to all who attended across both evenings. It was wonderful to see such a strong sense of community and pride in celebrating our students’ musical journeys.
Junior Ensembles Concert
On Thursday 21 May, our junior ensembles showcased their talents at the 2026 Junior Ensembles Concert. The evening was compered by our Junior Music Captains, Sean P and Lachlan T, who did a fantastic job guiding the audience through the program with confidence and enthusiasm.
The concert was a wonderful success, providing many of our younger musicians with the valuable experience of performing — often for the very first time — in front of such a large and supportive audience. It was incredibly rewarding to see their hard work come to life, with a range of beautiful pieces performed throughout the evening.
A heartfelt thank you goes to the Lauries Music Support Group for the BBQ, as well as the bar and raffle they so generously organized. Your ongoing support plays a vital role in making evenings like this so enjoyable for our community.
Cabaret Concert
Last Friday 29 May, our students took to the stage for the Cabaret Concert — arguably the most exciting event in our Semester 1 music calendar. Students, staff and guests truly embraced this year’s ‘Aussie, Aussie, Aussie’ theme, with some standout costumes including The Wiggles, a shrimp on the barbie, Bluey and Kath & Kim.
Our students performed exceptionally well, proudly showcasing all they have learned throughout the semester. It was truly a night to remember.
Thank you to all the parents who came along to support — it was a fantastic turnout. A special thank you to the members of the LMSG for running the bar and raffle; your ongoing effort and support are greatly appreciated and never go unnoticed. And finally, a massive thank you to our Compere for the evening – Ms Grace Visser!
Until next year!
TOSA Organ Night
On Monday 1 June, the Theatre Organ Society of Australia (TOSA) invited a group of our musicians to attend an Open Organ Night at Kelvin Grove State College. Accompanied by Dr Young, Mr Luk, Ms Flanagan & Mr Capern, students were given a guided tour of the Christie Theatre Pipe Organ at the College—one of only two theatre pipe organs in Brisbane. We were also joined by Brotherhood Old Boy, Laurence Feron-Farrell, a mechanical engineer who also works on Pipe Organs as a hobby.
During the visit, students explored the blower room and pipe chambers and had the opportunity to play the instrument themselves, gaining valuable hands-on experience. The organisation opens the organ to play every second Monday night. A big thank you to TOSA for their generosity on the night, along with providing guests a pizza dinner.

St Joseph’s Workshop
On Wednesday 10 June, we will be hosting the Combined Schools Junior Music Workshop, joined with St Joseph’s College. This year’s concert will include String Orchestra 3 and Guitar Orchestra 2 in ERPAC.
This is a wonderful performance opportunity for our students to further their music experiences and collaborate with other young musicians. We would love to see our parents at the concert to support them
