Round 4 and 5 Wrap Up
The past two weeks of AIC Sport have provided plenty of excitement, with a mixture of results but, most importantly, outstanding effort, commitment, and sportsmanship displayed by our students across all competitions.
Round 4 saw St Laurence’s take on Marist College Ashgrove. It was a highly successful day for Football, with the majority of our teams recording strong victories. The highlight was undoubtedly the 1st XI, who produced a memorable come-from-behind 2–1 victory in front of a large midweek crowd at Marist. The team showed tremendous resilience and character to secure an important win.
In Rugby Union, Marist enjoyed a successful day on the scoreboard. However, the Lauries boys competed strongly in every fixture, making Marist work hard for every result while displaying excellent sportsmanship throughout the day.
Round 5 saw our teams return home to face Padua College. Once again, Football enjoyed a terrific day, with almost all teams recording victories. Our undefeated 1st XI continued their impressive season with a clinical 4–0 win against a quality Padua side.
Rugby Union honours were shared between the two schools in a competitive round of fixtures. Unfortunately, the scheduled midweek 1st XV match was cancelled due to weather, resulting in the points being shared between the two teams.
Our Chess program continues to go from strength to strength. Across both rounds, the College achieved outstanding results, highlighted by victories from our 1st Team and strong performances across the majority of our other teams.
As we enter the final two rounds of the season, we look forward to hosting Iona College before concluding the season away against St Peters Lutheran College. We wish all students, coaches and teams the very best as they finish the season strongly.
2026 AIC Cross Country Championships
St Laurence’s College athletes delivered a very strong performance at the 2026 AIC Cross Country Championships, held on Wednesday at Curlew Park, with both our Primary and Secondary squads finishing an impressive 4th overall.
Our Primary runners showed great determination throughout the day, with the Year 5 team achieving an excellent 3rd place finish and the Year 6 team placing 6th. These efforts saw the College finish 4th overall in the Primary competition.
In the Secondary division, St Laurence’s enjoyed several outstanding age-group results. Our 12 Years and 14 Years teams both claimed AIC Premierships, finishing 1st in their respective age groups. The 13 Years team finished 5th, the 15 Years team 8th, the 16 Years team 6th, and the Open team 5th, resulting in an overall Secondary placing of 4th.
Several students also achieved exceptional individual results. In the 12 Years age group, Scott P finished 2nd and Harry G placed 3rd. In the 14 Years division, Lachie G secured 2nd place, with Ethan T finishing 3rd. In the Open race, Hugh JS produced a superb performance to finish 2nd overall.
These results are a testament to the commitment and hard work of our athletes throughout the season. Congratulations to all students who represented the College so proudly.
A special thank you to Mr Josh Beattie for his leadership of the program and to all coaches and staff who supported our athletes throughout the cross-country season.
