End of Year Enrolments Newsletter

Now in its third year, the Manchester City Football School at St Laurence’s College has enjoyed remarkable team success whilst also making significant strides in player development and an ever-growing impact on sport at the College as a whole. 

Highlights of the year include:

• Expansion of the program to Year 9, plus the addition of a second Year 7 group. 
• The appointment of Assistant Head Coach Mr Colm Rafferty, who joined the coaching staff from Manchester in January.
• Featuring players from the Manchester City program, the College recorded undefeated seasons in 5A, 6A and 6B, while securing Premiership titles across seven divisions: 7A, 7B, 7C, 7D, 8A, 8B and 9A. 
• The program's dominance extended into Futsal - with Lauries claiming Football Queensland Futsal School State Championships in both U13 and U15 divisions. The boys are due to compete in the National Championships in the last week of November at Nissan Arena.
• The introduction of our Player Development Program for boys aged 6-8 running in Terms 3 and 4, planting the seeds for future Lauries success stories.
• Our July and September holiday clinics attracted strong participation from both Lauries students and external players, providing an opportunity for young footballers to experience elite-level coaching in an engaging and supportive environment.

The Manchester City Football School Program will continue to grow in 2026 with a new cohort of students joining the ranks.

Trials and places for Year 5 and 7 2028 entry into the program will be completed as follows:

• Year 7 2028 - Tuesday 24 February 2026 - registrations are now open via the below form
• Year 5 2028 - Wednesday 12 August 2026

Please note, all confirmed incoming students (i.e. Year 5 2026 students) do not need to trial. We recommend your son participates in the AIC Football Season upon commencement at the school where your son's performance will be assessed for potential participation in the program in the future.

Year 7 2028 Manchester City Trials - NOW OPEN!

Trials for entry in Year 7 2028 are now open for interested footballers ready to take their skills to the next level:

Year 7 2028
Tuesday 24 February
4pm - 5.30pm

The trials will be held on Gair field, located at 82 Stephens Road, South Brisbane. All players are asked to bring a hat, sunscreen, water bottle and to wear their football playing kit including boots and shin pads.

Registrations for trials will close on Monday 23 February 2026 at 9am (or earlier if all available spaces are exhausted).
