Principal's Address

Semester 1 has been both productive and vibrant at St Laurence’s College. Following the completion of exams and assessment for most students, the energy and spirit of our community has been on full display. Highlights of the semester have included our much-anticipated House Choir Competition, numerous student and family centric events plus the ongoing momentum of key College initiatives and programs that support student growth and engagement.

We have been blessed to have the support of our community through multiple special events and initiatives including the Lauries Autumn Lunch, Lauries Sports Lunch plus our picket fence campaign. We were also proud and excited to unveil the upgraded facilities at our Runcorn Sporting Precinct. The ongoing development of the precinct represents a significant investment in the future of College sport and community life. Recent upgrades, including improved field drainage and turfing, as well as enhancements to spectator and support facilities, will ensure more consistent access and a higher quality experience for our students, with further improvements still to come.

We have also concluded Associated Independent Colleges (AIC) sport for Trimester 2, with outstanding participation and strong results across several competitions. Football performed exceptionally well, alongside competitive showings in Chess and Rugby. With more than 1,200 students representing the College in AIC sport this term, participation remains strong and continues to reflect the healthy, inclusive culture of sport at Lauries. It is equally pleasing to see the continued growth of our Colours Cup competition, providing additional opportunities for students to engage in sport beyond the AIC framework.

Music and the broader co-curricular program at St Laurence’s College continue from strength to strength, providing students with rich and diverse opportunities beyond the classroom. Participation across ensembles, clubs and activities remains strong, reflecting both student enthusiasm and the depth of programs on offer. Looking ahead to next term, the College will showcase an extensive calendar of concerts, performances and events, celebrating the talent, creativity and commitment of our students and further enriching the vibrant life of the Lauries community.

Once again, I wish you all a safe and enjoyable mid-year break. We look forward to welcoming you as you commence or continue your journey with St Laurence’s College in Semester 2.
