Music - 4 September
End of Year Concert Series:
Last week saw the final performances for many of our ensembles as part of the End of Year Concert Series.
The series started with a concert combining our Choirs and Senior Guitar Ensemble at St Ignatius Church in Toowong.
The Concert Bands & Percussion Ensembles performed at the Band Blast Concert which also included the final performance for the Year 5 Concert Band.
The String Orchestras & Symphony Orchestra performed at the Strictly Strings concert which also included the final performance for the Year 5 String Orchestra.
Still to come is the Guitar Finale Concert on Thursday 10 September which will feature Guitar Orchestra 2 & the Year 5 Guitar Ensemble.
The final concert in the Series will be Jazz on the Hill in Term 4. SLC Big Bands will be joined by the Centenary State High School on Gair field. This event will also feature a special performance by the International Jazz Musician Sarah McKenzie and Band. Tickets are on sale now.
Year 5 Music Program
The Year 5 Ensembles rehearsal will conclude on Friday 18 September at which point students learning through the beginner program will elect to continue their chosen instrument in our co-curricular music program.
Families interested in continuing their son’s musical journey at Lauries are reminded co-curricular contracts are due by Friday 11 September to continue lessons in Term 4. For any further information, please contact the Music Department.
