Library News - 13 February
At St Laurence’s College, we are dedicated to fostering a love of reading by making it accessible, flexible and engaging for every student. One of the key ways we support this is through our Wheelers eBook Library, which allows students to borrow and read books online—anytime, anywhere.
One of the greatest benefits of an eBook library is portability. Unlike physical books, eBooks can be accessed across multiple devices. Whether students are using a school laptop, a tablet at home or a mobile phone while travelling, their reading materials are always close at hand. This convenience allows students to move seamlessly between settings without the risk of forgotten or misplaced books.
The Wheelers platform offers a broad and diverse collection, including popular fiction and non‑fiction titles as well as educational resources that support classroom learning. We are also pleased to offer a growing range of decodable books, which are particularly valuable for developing readers. These texts are designed to build confidence and strengthen literacy skills by introducing phonics patterns in a structured, supportive way. Having decodables available digitally enables younger students to practise reading at their own pace, wherever they are.
Parents can feel confident knowing their children have access to high‑quality reading material that supports both enjoyment and academic growth. The eBook library can be accessed easily via the Wheelers app on any device or through the student portal, making it simple for families to support reading at home. Inclusive features such as adjustable text size, dyslexic font and the language feature help ensure a comfortable reading experience for all students. Just scan the QR code (see photo attached) on your mobile device and get your young man to sign in with his St Laurence's credentials to access the resources.
By embracing eBooks, St Laurence’s College continues to integrate modern technology while keeping reading at the heart of student life. Our library is proud to provide this service through the Library page, reflecting our commitment to ensuring every student can read widely, conveniently and in ways that suit their lifestyle.
