Dean of Primary-20 June

Dear Parents and Carergivers,

Term 2 has come to an end for the boys today. We hope they have a wonderful holiday and a chance to recharge for Semester 2. Staff will be at school next week completing Report Cards and preparing for Term 3.

We trust the boys enjoyed another rewarding term and that they are proud of their achievements, both in the classroom and in any co-curricular activities they have participated in.

Term 3 will commence on Monday, 14 July. All boys will need to continue wearing their winter uniform (tie and blazer) throughout Term 3. They should also return from the break with a term time haircut.

Next term promises another exciting lineup of opportunities for boys and families to engage with the community. Some important upcoming events include:

  • Student Led Conference – Monday, 21 July, 3:30–6:30 pm
  • Walkathon Friday, 8 August
  • Athletics Day (Ekka) – Wednesday, 13 August
  • Queensland Catholic Music Festival – 14–17 August
  • Lauries Community Committee Gala Dinner – Saturday, 13 September

Student Led Conferences

The next round of Parent-Teacher Interviews will take place in Week 2, on Monday, 21 July. These will be extended conferences led by the boys themselves. Parents will receive all the necessary information and digital links early next term. There is no need to make a booking for these conversations.

Walkathon Fundraising

On Friday, 8 August we will celebrate the Solidarity Mass and join the Secondary boys for the Walkathon. It will again be a magnificent event and it is so important to our school culture to do something for others.  Lauries boys are famous for caring for others and lending a hand. The Walkathon is a perfect example of that spirit.  We encourage all boys to continue to raise valuable sponsorship to support the “House” charities.  The school holidays might be a great time for boys to start collecting sponsorships, with permission from their parents and within the limits that families feel comfortable allowing.

On behalf of the boys, we thank all the families who generously donated to the “End of Term Monster Raffle.” Congratulations to all the Term 2 winners!

I also want to extend my thanks to all of the staff and adults who contributed to making Term 2 such a positive experience for the boys. We hope everyone enjoys a restful break and returns refreshed for Term 3.

Please remember to regularly check the College App over the holidays to stay updated on all matters relating to the College.

Thank you for your continued support of the staff and boys. Enjoy the upcoming holidays!

Kind Regards

Cameron Wigan
