Laurie’s Primary Curriculum Update – Term 3 week 1

Welcome back to all families for Term 3. We have an exciting term ahead with many events that will enrich the boys learning experiences across the term.

Laurie’s Impact Academy Day

On Thursday 16 July, St Laurence’s College will host a special event for high-potential Primary students — Laurie’s Impact Academy. Coordinated by Ms Naomi Lightbody (Assistant Head of Faculty – High Potential Learners), this event focuses on innovation, entrepreneurship, and collaborative problem-solving.

Students have been selected based on academic performance and consultation with their home class teachers. Further information has been sent home to families of those involved and Mrs Trendler will assist the team on the day.

Book Week at Laurie’s Primary – Week 4

We are excited to celebrate Book Week with a range of engaging activities across our Primary School, under this year’s theme: "Symphony of Stories."

Door design

Throughout week 4

Each class will participate in a door design competition where they can create a symphony of Stories themed door for the boys to walk through each day.

Character Parade

Monday, 3 August (Day 1, Week 4) – Period 1
Students are encouraged to dress as their favourite book character. There is no expectation to purchase costumes — creative, homemade outfits are encouraged and often the most memorable!

Author Visit – Tristan Bancks

Tuesday, 4 August (Day 2, Week 4)
We are thrilled to welcome author Tristan Bancks, who will share insights into his writing journey and inspire students with his storytelling.

Fun Competitions!

Throughout week 4

There will be a number of fun competitions that the boys can be involved in, such as; Comic Strip Creation, Songwriting competitions and a Library scavenger hunt.

I hope that your son’s have had a wonderful first few days back this term and I am looking forward to seeing their progress and enjoyment of learning throughout term 3!

As always, if you have any questions relating to Teaching and Learning within the Primary school, please do not hesitate to contact me.
