Library News - 31 July

At St Laurence’s College, we love Book Week so much that we celebrate Book Month throughout the whole month of August! This year’s CBCA Book Week theme, Symphony of Stories, will come to life across the College as we celebrate the joy of reading, storytelling and imagination.  The Library is being transformed with colourful displays, including the spectacular Lauries Symphony of Stories installation and accompanying Bookify display. A special thank you goes to Ms Hope Loveday for her creativity, enthusiasm and hard work in bringing these displays to life.

We are delighted to welcome bestselling Australian author Tristan Bancks in the first week of August. Tristan will share his stories and insights with our primary boys, inspiring the next generation of readers and writers.  Throughout the month, students can look forward to weekly trivia competitions, scavenger hunts, classroom activities, lunchtime events and plenty of opportunities to discover great books. There will also be Friday dance parties during Weeks 4, 6 and 7 to keep the celebrations going.

To encourage students to dive into even more great stories, every student will receive a special Book Month reading booklet. The booklet provides a fun way to track reading throughout August, complete challenges and record literary discoveries. Students who participate will go into the running for some fantastic prizes, making it the perfect opportunity to turn reading into an adventure.

August promises to be a wonderful celebration of stories, reading and community. We look forward to sharing the music of stories with all our young Lauries readers and helping them discover that every great story has the power to inspire, entertain and transform.

Kind Regards,

Trisha Templeton
