At St Laurence's College, we are committed to making reading as accessible and engaging as possible for every student. One of the ways we achieve this is through our eBook library, provided by Wheelers. This platform allows students to borrow and read books online, opening up a world of literature that can be accessed anytime, anywhere.

The great advantage of an eBook library is its portability. Unlike traditional books, eBooks can be carried on multiple devices at once. Whether your child is using a laptop at school, a tablet at home, or even a mobile phone while travelling, their library is always at their fingertips. This flexibility means students can continue their reading journey seamlessly across different settings, without the worry of forgetting or misplacing a physical book.

Wheelers offers a wide range of titles, from popular fiction and non-fiction to educational resources that support classroom learning. Importantly, the library now includes decodable books, which are an excellent resource for developing readers. Decodables are designed to build confidence and strengthen literacy skills by gradually introducing phonics patterns in a structured way. Having these available in digital form means younger students can practise reading at their own pace, with the added convenience of accessing them anywhere.

Parents can feel confident knowing that their children have access to quality literature that encourages both recreational reading and academic growth. The platform can be accessed easily via the Wheelers app or through the student portal, making it simple for families to support reading at home. Features such as adjustable text size also make reading more comfortable and inclusive for all students.

By embracing eBooks, we are not only keeping pace with modern technology but also ensuring that reading remains a central part of our students’ lives. Our library is proud to provide this service  from our Library Page , as it reflects our belief that every student should have the opportunity to read widely, conveniently, and in a way that suits their lifestyle.  If you have any further questions or concerns, please do make contact with the library team on libraryservices@slc.qld.edu.au or contact Ms Templeton on ttempleton@slc.qld.edu
