AFLQ Schools Cup
Recently, Lauries competed at the AFLQ Schools State Cup Finals on the Sunshine Coast. It was a fantastic weekend for the College, with Lauries winning both the Senior and Youth titles for the first time in our history and also finishing as Runners-Up in the Junior Secondary division.
This is an outstanding achievement and a reflection of the growing strength of AFL within our program. A sincere thank you goes to Mr Ferguson, Mr Taylor, Mr Wiltshire and all other SLC staff and coaches who assisted in preparing the students for the championships. Their dedication, planning, and commitment to the development of our players has been instrumental in reaching this milestone.
CBSQ Basketball
Our Year 9/10 team recently represented the College at the CBSQ Basketball tournament held on the Gold Coast. Competing in Division 2, the boys performed exceptionally well, finishing in 3rd place and earning promotion into Division 1 for next year.
Congratulations to the team on a tremendous effort and thank you to Mr Smith and the accompanying staff for their ongoing support, coaching and guidance throughout the campaign.
AIC Invitationals
Over the weekend, Lauries competed across three AIC Invitational events – Touch Football, Esports, and Water Polo.
In Touch Football, all Lauries teams progressed through to the Semi Finals, with the Senior team delivering an outstanding performance and finishing narrow runners-up to Iona in a highly competitive Grand Final.
In Water Polo, our students had a terrific campaign, with both the Junior and Senior teams winning their respective divisions following a series of disciplined and courageous displays.
In Esports, our students represented the College with pride at the event hosted by Villanova, competing strongly across all fixtures and continuing to build momentum in this fast-growing space within AIC co-curricular activities.
Thank you to all the staff, coaches, managers and student leaders who contributed to an excellent weekend of competition.
