Stories about friendship, caring, and kindness are so important for children. When students read books that show characters helping each other, solving problems together, or learning about their feelings, it helps them grow socially and emotionally. These stories teach children how to be good friends, how to work through challenges, and how to understand their own emotions. Sharing stories like these at home can also help children talk about their feelings and build strong friendships.
So, when your child picks up a book about kindness or friendship, they’re not just reading—they’re learning how to care for themselves and others.
Here at St Laurence's Library, we have a range of amazing stories about friendships for our younger readers. Here are a few titles that we have on our shelves that show the importance of having friends and being a good one too!
1. The night bus hero by Onjali Rauf
2. Gustav and Henry by Andy Matthews
3. August and Jones by Pip Harry
4. Future friend by David Baddiel
5. The Asparagus Bunch by Jessica Scott-Whyte
