From the Lauries Community Committee
Parents and College working together to support our students and community.
At the final meeting of 2025, the Lauries Community Committee (LCC) signed off on a new Charter — a key milestone that formalises how we work alongside the College Leadership Team to strengthen our community through connection, fundraising and initiatives that directly benefit students. A copy of this document is now available online HERE.
We farewelled several long-serving members, including Jo Cosgrove, Michelle Fechner, Jo O’Sullivan, Anne Moffat, Colleen Rowan and Jeanine Stone whose energy and commitment have left the Committee in a strong position, we thank them for all that they have done to support the LCC activities and for all the fun along the way. We are thankful also to those continuing and new Committee members who generously volunteer their time and expertise.
Looking ahead to 2026, the LCC sub-committees — Faith in Action, Music and the Arts, Sport Development and Special Events — will continue their work supporting a full calendar of College and community activities. Each contributes to fundraising that benefits all areas of College life. Significantly the Sports Committee has been able to contribute significant funds raised at the last two annual sports lunches toward the new, and long hoped for, double sided electronic scoreboard for the Runcorn upgrade. Well done to Kathy Nadenic, her team and parent supporters for this amazing effort. We’ll continue to share updates and opportunities to get involved through the Culture and Community tab on the College App.
Building on this foundation, funds raised by parents have also supported initiatives such as Graduation Day icy-poles for all students — now set to become an annual tradition — and the purchase of an LCC marquee to provide a visible presence at College events and strengthen community connection.
If you have suggestion or would like to contribute towards any of our fundraising events, to get involved in volunteering or to find out more about the LCC, please contact lcc@slc.qld.edu.au.

Parents often organise informal get-togethers within their year level to help strengthen family connections. The LCC is happy to discuss ways to support and share these events via the College App and Newsletter.
The LCC meets once each Term and all parents and caregivers are welcome to get involved. To learn more, email lcc@slc.qld.edu.au.
Our first event for 2026 is the Lauries Trivia Night, run by the Music Committee — we look forward to seeing you there and to another great year of collaboration, connection and community spirit at Lauries.
