Learning

Vision

Learners at St Laurence’s College graduate as confident, capable and compassionate men of faith.  As self-directed lifelong learners they exhibit a growth mindset and form positive relationships with others.

Belief about Learning

Learning at St Laurence’s College is student-centered, where active engagement occurs in dynamic and relevant learning environments that enable the learner to acquire new knowledge, deepen their understanding, and apply concepts to new contexts or ideas. The 21st Century skills and discipline specific literacies form the foundation of the metacognitive processes that lead to mastery within a field of study.

Learning Framework

The St Laurence’s College Learning Framework is a conceptual framework for learning that places students at the centre of learning and recognises the important role that teachers play as both experts and mentors.

The vision for learning is enacted through both whole school and discipline specific modern pedagogical practices to enable students to acquire the 21st Century Skills that prepare them for the jobs of the future and develop mastery within their field of expertise.

The Learning Exchange

The Learning Exchange: Institute for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (LEX) is a joint venture between St Laurence’s College and the Catholic schools of Padua College and Iona College.

LEX aims to build on the excellence in practice between schools and share resources and expertise through highly effective professional learning communities.

To meet the goals of today's learners and prepare them for the opportunities they will have as tomorrow's leaders, we are transforming how we learn and work together. Through partnerships with universities and industry, the LEX Initiative supports the goal of ensuring learners have the best opportunities to achieve and prosper.
